Brian Hafler Care Fund Bowlathon - A HUGE SUCCESS!!

 As many of you know, Brian Hafler, who has been a long time patron and volunteer coach at Wallenpaupack Bowling Center, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. On Saturday, March 15th, a fundraiser was held at the bowling center to raise money to help the Hafler family with their medical expenses. We had a tremendous turnout, and a good time was had by all. Our biggest thanks go, of course, to all of Brian's wonderful friends who attended the party and gave so generously of themselves, helping us raise over $5,000. Special thanks also to all of our staff, who donated their time and went far above the call of duty in securing prizes, getting the word out, and making sure everything ran smoothly. Also, to the many people who supplied us with goodies for the bake sale, everything was sold, and there was a lot of stuff! Thank you, Dannielle, for the great photos. And finally, our gratitude goes out to all of the businesses that supplied us with door prizes and tricky tray raffle items:

FATHER/SON TEAM SHAKES THE RAFTERS!!! 
On Friday, November 2nd, Bill Montgomery (left) and his son John astonished the house when they both bowled perfect 300 games, John in the first game and Bill in the third, for series scores of 661 and 663 respectively. They both bowl for Ernie's Place on the Wayne Commercial League. This is a record not likely to be broken for years to come! The Montgomery men have been long time league bowlers at Wallenpaupack, and are a shining testament to what bowling and sportsmanship are all about.

Don't like to bowl? There are plenty of other things to do here to pass the time. Like shooting pool in our state of the art billiards room, or keeping your swing perfect in our virtual golf simulator, featuring over 50 well known and world famous courses to choose from! Our video arcade boasts a large selection of popular games to play.
  And when you get a little hungry, just stop in at our snack bar, with its menu that includes a large selection of healthy choices as well as standard snack bar fare. Our prices are reasonable, and the food is always fresh and tastefully prepared.

KUDOS TO MATTHEW HAFLER, MICHAEL SYLVESTER AND JOSH GLICKENSTEIN, WALLENPAUPACK'S NEWEST LEVEL 1 USBC CERTIFIED COACHES!
These three young men from our Senior Youth League passed their Level 1 exams on Sunday, October 7th, bringing the number of certified coaches at Wallenpaupack Bowling Center to an impressive 11. We look forward to having their help in teaching our young beginners the basics! They have already signed up to continue on to be certified at Level 2!
WALLENPAUPACK PRO WINS TITLE!
Jason Lundquist Scores Big in Lebanon Regional
Jason Lundquist, Wallenpaupack Bowling Center's resident pro, took his first Regional Title in the PBA Eastern Division on Sunday, July 29th at the PBA East Region Cap Card Open in Lebanon, PA. After placing 6th in a field of 129 in the preliminary qualifying rounds, he went on through the elimination rounds to defeat 13th placed John Neral of Haskell, NJ in the final round of competition, 236-188, to take home the prize of $3,000. Jason is now the second ranked pro in the Eastern Region, with over 90,000 points to his credit, putting him in excellent position to earn an exemption in the next US Open. Way to go, Jay!
Other Wallenpaupack Bowlers who competed in the Lebanon Regional were Frank Ciannella, John Bachetti, Mike Markis, and Marty Kirsten, Jr.
WALLENPAUPACK PRO SCORES AGAIN!
Jason Lundquist Defeats National Icon in Match Play!
Jason Lundquist, who has been making a name for himself on the regional circuit, defeated nationally renowned Pete Weber in the Round of 16 in the PBA East Region Bowlers Supply Open held on Sunday, August 5th in York, PA. Scores were 267-278, 218-226, 279-265, 258-208, 265-160, advancing him to the quarter final round, where he defeated Dave D'Entremont of Middleburg, Ohio 255-238 and 212-194 in the best of 3 match. Jason was defeated in the quarter finals to end up placing 4th overall in the tournament. |
